ASSIGNMENT FOR GM 216- TAKE HOME
Instructions:
a) Number of
pages for the assignment is 6 to 10, 1.5 spaced A4 pages excluding
preliminaries (title page and table of contents) and conclusion,
b) Font to be
used is Times New Roman size 12; Margins: 1.2” left, 1” right, 1.2” top, and 1” bottom,
c) The assignment
for the course is due on Wednesday November 21st 2012 at 1400hrs;
late submission shall be penalized at 5% per hour. Assignment overdue for over
3 days or more shall not be accepted and a student will earn a 0% mark.
The task:
Select
one sector. This could be media, mining, tourism, health, forestry, fishing,
primary and secondary education, tertiary education, agriculture, financial
services, banking, consultancy, construction, etc.
1)
Identify
and describe key constraints to enterprise development and related policy
framework for the sector (including major programmes/projects).
2)
Identify
the most influential actors in enterprise development in that sector and their
key roles at different levels (co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation,
financing, facilitation, regulation, direct service delivery).
3)
Assess
the strengths and weaknesses in enterprise development in that sector and
suggest ways of improving the situation.
NB:
A sector may not have an enterprise development framework dedicated to it.
However frameworks found in other sectors or crosscutting strategies may be
relevant to it as well.
